There is no validated pediatric pneumonia score. A validated adult pneumonia score exists, but its use in children is limited by its weighting of advanced age and non-applicable comorbid disease. Two “HARM Scores” for pediatric pneumonia were created based on parameters relevant to children. These scores are meant as a research tool and are not for clinical use. They do not provide prognostic information or comparisons of severity between different patients. Interobserver reliability was assessed for each score. The results of the scores were validated against the blinded opinions of the primary physicians and residents caring for the study patient.
